Elgin, IL – November 28, 2016: Fabric Images®, in collaboration with LOT, completed fabrication of the Flatiron Sky-Line in New York for last week’s opening. The installation showcases Fabric Images’ structural metal capabilities within their fabrication facility Elgin, IL, USA.

Flatiron Sky-line installation

Designed by LOT, the Flatiron Sky-Line was the winning design in the third annual Flatiron Public Plaza Holiday Design Competition by The Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District (BID) and Van Alen Institute. The temporary installation sits within the heart of the Flatiron District as a highly visible landmark.

Fabric Images’ role in the Flatiron Sky-Line consisted of engineering and producing ten large continuous arches, constructed of white, powder coated steel, which are engineered to support lighting and hammocks. Fabric Images was chosen as fabricator for the project based on their vast knowledge, metal fabrication and engineering skills and previous experiences working on complex architectural solutions.

The installation is open to the public November 21st through the holidays.
